All About Us
Red Earth Kitchen is situated in the rolling hills of South Devon close to the market town of Kingsbridge, at the head of the Salcombe Estuary. The town is surrounded by fields of rich red soil from which it takes it's name.
The company was founded in 2004, and started life at home in a domestic kitchen. Our aim was to provide top quality meals, baked goods and deli products for sale in Delis and small independent shops around the South Hams and Devon.
To achieve this we source top quality ingredients from as close to Kingsbridge as possible, allowing for seasonal changes. When we do buy ingredients from further afield we choose Westcountry first and British second. Our only exceptions are for items which do not grow, or are not made in the UK, such as Parmesan cheese and Dried Fruits. From the wonderful ingredients we have sourced we make handmade food that looks and tastes home cooked and not mass produced. By sourcing the ingredients as locally as possible, we could also reduce the "food miles" of our products. The Kitchen moved to bigger premises in Churchstow in 2005, and with the extra space the range of products expanded considerably too, however we still make all our products the same way today - in small batches, by hand.
More recently Red Earth Kitchen has developed a new range of deli food products including delicious salads and dips, pates and baked goods such as quiches and tarts, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, savoury pies, Devon pasties all of which are available at the Farmers Markets and Food Festivals we regularly attend throughout Devon.
